Come and join us in Port Orchard’s beautiful Jackson Park this Saturday, October 29th. We’ll be there from 3pm – 8pm for one of our biggest fundraisers of the year: GHOST TRAIN!! The woods around the miniature steamer trains will be decorated in all sorts of Halloween scenes! Ride the train through and prepare to be amazed!! There will also be fun and games for the kids as well as a few trick or treats available at the park to enjoy before or after your ride.

New Foster Parent Training Policy Oct 15 2011
DSHS has made some changes to the Foster Parent Training requirements. This is a significant change to past policy, and effects both new foster families and experienced ones as well. Please take special note to the sections regarding Parenting Plus in-class training.

- Scholarship requests will be granted on a first come, first served basis.

Washington State Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth:
The Governors’ Scholarship provides $2,000 to $4,000 per year, for up to five years, for youth who are seniors in high school, and have or will emancipate from foster care in Washington State to attend college. Please take a moment to review the eligibility information on our website if you have students who may be eligible.

IMPORTANT: New Training Policy
FOSTER PARENT TRAINING POLICY CHANGES
The information below is being released to foster parents in the October Caregiver Connection. The new training policy will take effect on October 15, 2011 (see attachment). Licensors should become familiar with the policy before implementation in October.
A Fact sheet is being developed that can be shared in Orientation and PRIDE. Licensors should begin talking with prospective foster parents about the policy.
