We are looking for a recruiter/liaison for Mason,Kitsap, and Thurston County for a 20 hour a week position. Desired candidate would be a current of former foster parent with three years experience in that role. The role would cover recruiting for foster parents and encouraging them through the licensing process with regular contact. All contact information is entered into a database. Other parts of the role include overseeing support group development and also acting as a liaison in dispute resolution. To know more about Fostering Together the link is www.fosteringtogether.org.

Foster Parent and Caregiver Training Review

As foster parents and caregivers, we want to make sure that you receive the right training at the right time and in the right way. We want to make sure that you have the knowledge and skills you need to proficiently perform your important role as a caregiver or resource parent. We are at the beginning of an ongoing project to develop a competency base training system for Washington State initiated by the Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence for foster parents/caregivers, social workers and supervisors. These competencies can also tell us what needs further development. We have developed a first draft of foster parent / caregiver competencies and want your feedback and input.

The Washington State Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth provides $2,000 to $4,000 per year, for up to five years for youth who have or will emancipate from foster care in Washington State to attend college. Please take a moment to review the eligibility criteria on our website to determine if you have students who may be eligible.
The online application can be completed on our website, and the application deadline has been extended to December 5, 2012. Applications and required paperwork must be submitted or postmarked by the deadline.
