As foster parents and caregivers, we want to make sure that you receive the right training at the right time and in the right way. We want to make sure that you have the knowledge and skills you need to proficiently perform your important role as a caregiver or resource parent. We are at the beginning of an ongoing project to develop a competency base training system for Washington State initiated by the Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence for foster parents/caregivers, social workers and supervisors. These competencies can also tell us what needs further development. We have developed a first draft of foster parent / caregiver competencies and want your feedback and input. Governors’ Scholarship Application Has been Extended!

Greetings from the College Success Foundation The Washington State Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth provides $2,000 to $4,000 per year, for up to five years for youth who have or will emancipate from foster care in Washington State to attend college. Please take a moment to review the eligibility criteria on our website to determine if you have students who may be eligible. The online application can be completed on our website, and the application deadline has been extended to December 5, 2012. Applications and required paperwork must be submitted or postmarked by the deadline. Ghost Train, our biggest fundraiser of the year, is quickly approaching! Our huge party will take place in Jackson Park in Port Orchard on Oct 27th, with train rides from 6-9pm. We have lots of community partners coming together with carnival games and fun things for kids to do, starting at 4pm! Then, groups of people are putting together scary scenes along the train tracks. The kids and adults riding the train have a great spooky time!! We are still looking for groups to put together a few scenes around the tracks.
