Prudent Parenting emergency WAC changes
The “Prudent Parenting” bill (ESSB 6479) was passed during the 2014 legislative session and signed into law by Governor Inslee in March. The law becomes effective today, June 12, 2014. This bill gives caregivers the authority to give permission for children and youth in their care to participate in extracurricular, enrichment and social activities without the prior approval of the CA worker.
The Division of Licensed Resources has made emergency changes to the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) to ensure compliance with this law. Please read the attached memo from Darcey Hancock, DLR Administrator regarding the WAC changes.
Thank you

table host invitation
Dear Community Member,
I am writing to you today because I know you share my commitment to Kitsap Foster children. I invite you to take an active part in helping Kitsap foster kids thrive in stable, healthy foster homes by hosting a table at Kitsap Foster Care Association’s first annual “Fostering the Kitsap Family” luncheon.
The luncheon will be held at the beautiful Bremerton Conference Center on September 25, 2014 from 11:30am-1pm.
Table hosts invite friends, colleagues and family members to join them in attending and supporting the KFCA luncheon. In the coming weeks, we’ll be sending along save-the-date emails, invitations, event updates and tips to help you engage your friends and colleagues. We want to support your efforts and are always available to answer your questions.
A few things to keep in mind:
· Everyone is welcome. We’re relying on you to fill a table of 10 people, but don’t stop there! Ask your invitees if they know of other people to invite. If your table exceeds 10 people, we will happily sit additional guests at the nearest table.
· Spirit of philanthropy. When you invite your guests, be sure to communicate that the event is a fundraiser. The suggested minimum donation at the event is $75, and every donation makes a difference in the lives of children in foster care in Kitsap County. Supporters of all financial capacities are welcome. KFCA is a registered 501c3 charity, #91-1586465.
· Personal touch. A personal touch on your save-the-date email or a follow up phone call is often the key to confirmation.
· About Kitsap Foster Care Association. Please share KFCA’s website address,www.kitsapfostercare.org, for more information about our work, or “like” us on Facebook.
Please join me on September 25, 2014 at 11:30am for this inspiring celebration. I welcome your RSVP by phone or email and look forward to working with you to support local kids.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Again, thank you for your leadership and dedication to helping children in foster care.
Very warm regards,Naomi Nichols
